Icons: Portraits by Rafael Fuchs: Beacon, NY

Ethan Cohen Gallery at the KuBe Art Center is pleased to present Icons, a solo exhibition of large format photographs by Rafael Fuchs.

Icons: Portraits by Rafael Fuchs is a presentation of select works from Fuchs’ vast archive of legends and influential figures from the last 30 years.  Ranging from Beyoncé, Derek Jeter, Nathan Lane, Julia Stiles, David Blaine and Colin Powell, to name some, Fuchs’ portraits weave together a pop-culture narrative that has defined a generation. Fuchs' portraits of legendaries from entertainment, literature, sports, politics, finance, technology, and art have appeared on magazine covers around the world, and are part of major permanent collections in the National Portrait Gallery in London, the Palais Galliera in Paris, the Tel Aviv Museum, and more.

In addition to Fuchs' large scale photographs, there is a gallery devoted to his process and photo sessions. In this intimate setting, viewers may examine the select group of contact sheets from the analogue camera sessions, as well as smaller polaroid photographs taken before each shoot.

Fuchs is a Brooklyn, NY based artist, photographer, director, curator and producer.  Over the years he has earned his place as one of the most important portrait photographers of his generation. 

Ethan Cohen Gallery at the KuBe Art Center is pleased to share this important body of work with the public, opening during Upstate Art Weekend.  The opening reception will take place 4 - 6 PM on Saturday, July 22nd.
