Opening Reception: November 7, 1 – 5.30 pm
Ethan Cohen Gallery at the KuBe Art Center is pleased to present POPaganda, a focused solo presentation of Ron English, a Beacon resident and internationally renowned pop artist.
English is best known for his subversive use of pop culture imagery, bringing recognizable brands, characters, and cultural icons together in unexpected juxtapositions. Through the practice of culture jamming, he alters familiar imagery to question corporate agendas and the messages embedded in everyday visual culture.
Over his prolific career, English has developed a distinctive painting style, honed through early apprenticeships in New York City. He calls his artistic approach “POPaganda,” blending highbrow and lowbrow cultural symbols with political commentary and an irreverent sense of humor. His work has appeared in museums, movies, books, and television, reaching audiences across contemporary media.
English has a longstanding relationship with The KuBe Art Center, where his solo exhibition A Ron English Adventure: The Secret History of Beacon Bigfoot was held in 2022. He also co-curated the Back to School Art Festival with Ethan Cohen, which ran from November 2023 to May 2024.
Hours: Every Saturday, Tours at 2 pm
