VINCENT MICHÉA

1963 born in Figeac, France

Originally from Figeauc, France, Michea moved to the Dakar, Senegal, the 'Paris of Africa', from 1991-1995. He was immediately influenced by the energy of the city with the bold colors and the hard edges homage to West African fabrics and his subject matter forming a hyperrealist image of his new home. He paints the city alive with passion, capturing perfectly framed moments in what can be perceived as ordinary in themselves. The people depicted in his work are somewhat masked by his choice to compose the human form with a pointillism technique, almost a contemporary take on Georges Seurat, reminding us that we are never completely separated from our environment.
