Ongoing Installation: Jon Kessler in the Turbine Room

ETHAN COHEN GALLERY is pleased to present Jon Kessler at the KuBe, a site-specific installation that incorporates the suburban landscape of Beacon, New York and the architecture of the Kunsthalle Beacon (KuBe) building.  

Located in The Turbine, a room on the first floor of the building with an early 20^th century turbine and exposed brick, Bollywood Swan is a manipulated image of a woman attached to a mirror surface in front of a camera. Within the cutouts of her face the mirror allows a merging of viewer and subject revealed on the flat screen to the left. The viewer is an active participant of the piece, touching upon Kessler’s longtime interest in surveillance and feelings of alienation.
