On View

MAIN GALLERY · 2nd Floor

Vitaly Komar: Three Day Weekend
Ethan Cohen Gallery presents a solo exhibition by Vitaly Komar, who co-founded the Sots Art movement with Alexander Melamid. Bringing together political satire, spiritual inquiry, and reflections on history, the exhibition’s title imagines a shared weekend encompassing the days of worship of Islam, Judaism, and Christianity.

The presentation includes collage maquettes for Naked Revolution (1997), an opera by composer Dave Soldier in collaboration with Komar and Melamid. The opera follows a Russian taxi driver whose dreams are haunted by George Washington and Lenin, with sets designed by the artist duo.

Clark Fox
Clark Fox is an American artist whose work spans abstraction, Pop art, political painting, and cultural critique. With roots in the Washington Color School, his practice has evolved over nearly six decades to explore American identity, power, and representation. His ongoing series of George Washington paintings revisits the familiar presidential portrait through bold color, repetition, and satire, informed by his Cherokee and Powhatan heritage.

Ron English
Beacon-based artist Ron English presents works from his POPaganda series. Drawing on advertising, popular culture, and familiar American imagery, English uses humor and satire to examine consumer culture and the messages that shape public life.

Donna Mikkelsen: ASK WHAT
Beacon artist Donna Mikkelsen turns words into art. Part of her Word Alchemy series Presidential Words, ASK WHAT transforms John F. Kennedy’s famous call to action, rearranging its language to uncover new meanings.

AUDITORIUM · 2nd Floor

Films by Donna Mikkelsen
The Auditorium presents two short films by Donna Mikkelsen:

Revolutionary Words
A Word Alchemy animation transforming the words of Revolutionary presidents.

An American Dream Story
A film featuring Bill Ellenwood, presented in tribute to one of the Bonfire’s biggest supporters, who recently passed away.

SCIENCE WING · 3rd Floor

Renée Cox
Following her solo presentation with Ethan Cohen Gallery at The Armory Show, Jamaican-born photographer Renée Cox brings her monumental photographic work The Signing to the KuBe. Reimagining the familiar scene of the signing of the United States Constitution with a cast of Black subjects, Cox asks viewers to reconsider who is represented in the nation’s founding narratives and who has been excluded. The presentation also includes her seminal works Cousins at Pussy's Pond, and Olympia's Boyz, two monumental photographs that reimagine canonical images from Western art.

Emil Alzamora
Beacon-based, Peruvian-born sculptor Emil Alzamora stretches, distills, and transforms the human figure. His anonymous forms convey vulnerability, intimacy, and emotional tension, inviting reflection on the relationship between the body and the self.

Frank Hyder
Painter and sculptor Frank Hyder works across painting, sculpture, woodcut, and installation. His vibrant colors, recurring figures, and cultural symbolism explore shared human experience and the expressive possibilities of the human form.

Marat Guelman and the Group + - Komma: First of all, it’s beautiful
Created in collaboration with the international art group + - Komma, with AI as a co-author, First of all, it’s beautiful places images of nuclear explosions within familiar aesthetic contexts drawn from art history. The project considers how images shape collective fear and how beauty can offer a way to confront uncertainty and continue living in an anxious age.

Africa Africa
A presentation by Ethan Cohen Gallery bringing contemporary work into dialogue with African tribal traditions.
