Poetry Reading: Elise Paschen: Saturday, July 22nd at 6:00 PM

Ethan Cohen Gallery at the KuBe Art Center is pleased to present a powerful reading by renowned poet Elise Paschen: Voice Of The Osage Nation.  Paschen's words stitch together the vast interconnected relationships between nature and humanity, and tell stories that reveal a holistic view of our collective histories.  An enrolled member of the Osage Nation, Paschen will present passages from her recent books of poetry on stage in the KuBe Art Center Theater.

 

Elise Paschen is the author of The Nightlife, Bestiary, Infidelities, and Houses: Coasts. The Chicago Review has named her work in the top poetry books of 2017, and she is the winner of the Nicholas Roerich Poetry Award. As an undergraduate at Harvard, she received the Garrison Medal for poetry. She holds M.Phil. and D.Phil. degrees from Oxford University. She is a recipient of the Rupert Costo Chair in American Indian Affairs Medal. Her poems have been published widely, including Poetry Magazine, A Norton Anthology of Native Nations Poetry, and The Best American Poetry 2018. She has edited numerous anthologies, including The Eloquent Poem. Dr. Paschen teaches in the MFA Writing Program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
