ETHAN COHEN FINE ARTS

Ethan Cohen Fine Arts was established in 1987 as the first gallery in the United States to specialize in Chinese Contemporary art. Ethan Cohen Fine Arts works with many of the top artists in the feild as well as a number of emerging and new artists with connections to China, Japan and all parts of Asia.

ETHAN COHEN is dedicated to promoting and showcasing contemporary art from Asia. Over the past two decades, he has been involved with groundbreaking exhibitions and worked closely with notable scholars developing the field of Chinese Contemporary Art. His long list of exhibitions includes prominent shows such as Radical Line-20 years of ink Innovation in Chinese Art at Bowling Green State University Museum and Wooster College Art Gallery, Chinese Maximilism, curated by Gao Minglu and organized by The Millennium Art Museum, Beijing and the University of Buffalo Art Galleries, The Chinese Art Invasion in Art Basel Miami and Making China: Cultural Implosion, curated by Huang Du and Bingyi. He is a regular participant in international art fairs and last showed in the Volta Art fair in Basel Switzerland in 2006.

Ethan Cohen has developed various areas of focus in his art business- the gallery, curatorial, advisory, and investment strategy. Mr. Cohen lends his advisory expertise to numerous prominent collectors, works with corporate clients, and is involved in exciting curatorial projects. Mr. Cohen is a co-curator of the show “We Are Your Future: Russia, Latin America, and China”, a featured art exhibition of the 2nd Moscow Biennale 2007.
Mr. Cohen also serves as the president of the board to White BoxNY.org.


PATRICK REGAN, Assistant Director brings curatorial, academic and practical experience to the team. Recently he has returned from Beijing where he was funded to research the Contemporary Chinese Art market pursuant to his MA in Chinese studies from the University of Michigan. He holds a Masters of Fine Arts, has taught both art history and studio arts at university for over six years and has given numerous lectures on contemporary art and its markets. Mr. Regan is conversant in Chinese and has lived in Beijing for the year of 2006.

CENG ZHU, a native to Beijing was instrumental in assisting Mr. Cohen in establishing the gallery 1987. Mr. Zhu, prior to coming to the United States was a cellist in the Beijing Opera. Mr. Zhu has worked in international business for 20 years working in over 15 countries, specializing in contract negotiation and logistics. Several years ago Mr. Zhu rejoined the gallery upon the insistence of Mr. Cohen as the business manager.


ETHAN COHEN PROJECTS

ETHAN COHEN PROJECTS is devoted to presenting the work of a select group of dynamic, emerging artists from home and abroad. We promote these artists at various domestic and international art fairs, curated exhibitions, special events, and other exclusive venues, including the summer ARTHAUS gallery on Cape Cod.

ETHAN COHEN PROJECTS works with artists Orly Cogan, Bernard Williams, Carlos Francisco Jackson, Hady Sy, Joshua Abelow, and Elahe Massumi, among others. We also work with several more established artists in their respective fields, including the Russian social realist art team Komar & Melamid, photographer Lois Conner, and renown New York sculptor Jon Kessler.

We are a unique gallery in NYC that aims to present the latest in contemporary art, both Chinese and non-Chinese.
